The main goal of the Company in protection of environment is to continuously reduce the negative environmental impact emanating from the manufacturing plant’s operation and to ensure the compliance of JSC Olainfarm operation with regulatory environmental enactments that are harmonized with EU directives. The Company pays much attention to training its staff in environmental protection and actions in case of emergency situations and accidents. JSC Olainfarm was one of the first companies in Latvia to obtain a certificate in 2000 according to the requirements of environmental management standard ISO 14001:1996. The most recent re-certification of the Company was carried out by internationally well-known auditor company Bureau Veritas in January 2007 by awarding a certificate in accordance with the requirements of environmental management standard ISO 14001:2004.

The Company has introduced a system of separate waste collection: by regular collecting of waste paper, glass, scrap metal, fluorescent light bulbs, used batteries and accumulators, electrical and electronic waste, asbestos, as well as hazardous industrial and laboratory waste.
